Provision of Broadcasting Equipment

TTV Solomon Islands with the field production kit

To develop and strengthen the media resilience in the Pacific, PCBL gifted a range of equipment to nineteen of our broadcasting partners: field production kits, laptops, mojo kits.

Field production kits were gifted to nine broadcasters with the kits including laptops with editing suites, cameras with accessories, and lighting gear.

The field production kits enable our broadcasters to produce high quality stories that can then be shared locally as well as across the region. Combined with the technical and journalism training provided by PCBL, our partners now have the tools and skills to better share their voice on a global stage.

The field production kits were gifted to:

  • CITV, Cook Islands
  • EMTV, Papua New Guinea
  • TTV, Solomon Islands
  • FBC, Fiji
  • TBC, Tonga
  • VBTC, Vanuatu
  • BCN, Niue
  • Kiri One, Kiribati
  • FSMTC, Federated States of Micronesia

Mojo kits also were provided as an alternative to needing to use the larger cameras and have a greater degree of flexibility in deployment. Where the field production kits need more set up time and skill in use, the Mojo kits can be easily and quickly deployed. The kits were sent in a rugged case which included an iPhone, gimbal mount, and microphones. Laptops with editing software were also provided as part of the kit.

Mojo kits were gifted to:

  • Araura TV, Cook Islands
  • Mangaia TV, Cook Islands
  • VakaTV, Cook Islands
  • Click, Papua New Guinea
  • NBC, Papua New Guinea
  • SIBC, Solomon Islands
  • Fiji TV, Fiji
  • Mai TV, Fiji
  • TV3, Samoa

Additionally, SamoaTV1 received a LiveU 300 encoder as part of their national disaster recovery plan to integrate with PacHub and FSMTC received four decoders to enable their access to PasifikaTV – becoming the latest Pacific broadcaster to join the growing community.
