WEAVE

Team Name: Sleeping Giants
Six-year-old Sam is convinced he has legendary powers. His family plays along, until a shadowy figure appears hellbent on harnessing it. Mythical, biblical, cultural–or just an overactive imagination?

Team Members: Twayne Laumua, Patrick Vaauli, Iosefa Domingo Enari, Mathew Iakopo

Paths of the Tautua

Team Name: SITUATION CREW
The film follows Pita, a young boy from a quiet village who arrives in Apia carrying a basket of food entrusted to him by his family for his uncle’s household.

But the excitement of town quickly distracts him. Drawn to a lively neighbourhood volleyball game, Pita stops to watch-only to join in, losing track of time as the afternoon passes in laughter and competition.

Meanwhile, his cousin Pea, who lives in Apia, is called home by his father to receive the food Pita has finally delivered. But when Pea arrives, his casual manner, slouching and lack of proper fa’aaloalo (respect) and customary greetings immediately stand out.

Through the two boys, the film explores how fa’aSamoa is lived, taught and passed from one generation to the next. It reminds us that culture is not simply where we come from-it is what we choose to practise, preserve and carry forward, even as Samoa changes with the times.

First Pay

Team Name: TITAN 685
After receiving her first pay cheque, a young Samoan lady is excited to finally have money of her own and plans to spend it on herself. But as one family contribution after another comes her way, her plans, and her pay cheque quickly disappear. What begins as a humorous struggle over money becomes a reflection on Samoan culture, family, and service, reminding her that sometimes what we earn is not only for ourselves. Because in a culture where family comes first, giving is part of who we are. It is the heart of our culture.

Mother and Daughter Spiritual and Fitness Journey

Team Name: TEAM FUKI
Team Fuki explores the special bond between a typical Samoan mother and daughter through faith, family and healthy living.

The mother encourages her daughter to stay active, care for her wellbeing and maintain a strong connection with God. Their walks together become more than just exercise-they are moments to connect and share the values that matter.

The story also highlights the morning devotion, a cherished part of family culture, where families, led by elderly parents rise early to begin the day with prayer. However, the growing influence of technology and changing lifestyles has seen this practice decline among many young people.

Through the mother-daughter relationship, Team Fuki celebrates the importance of faith, family, health and cultural values, reminding the next generation to carry these traditions forward while embracing the changing world around them.
