SOL23: What to Watch on Day 11

Day 11 of the Sol2023 Pacific Games (Friday 1 December) is the second last day of the Games and also known as Fantastic Friday, so take this opportunity to watch some action.

Triathlon has itsaquathlon finals for men and women taking place in the morning, with the swimming leg at the Aquatic Centre and the running leg on the roads of Honiara. A Sport City day ticket ($30) or a pass is needed for entry to the Aquatic Centre.

Athletics track and field events conclude at Honiara’s National Stadium, so get down and catch some of the action. Events on the fifth and final day include the men’s and women’s 3000m steeplechase and the men’s and women’s 4x100m relays. Events are from 11am to 3:30pm and a Sport City day ticket ($30) or a pass is needed for entry.

Athletes will re-enter the boxing ring onFriday throughout the afternoon from 1pm until around 9pm. All bouts are happening at the Aquatic Centre and a Sport City day ticket ($30) or a pass is needed for entry.

The netball arena at Friendship Hall will see more action until 6pm as teams battle for the final spots in Saturday’s medal matches. A Sport City day ticket ($30) or a pass is needed for entry.

Over at SIFF Academy, basketball 3×3 and beach volleyball continue and the tournaments are heating up ahead of Saturday’s medal matches. It’s a great opportunity to catch action all day across the two sports. Tickets are $30.

It’s the last day of hockey at the National Hockey Centre with medal matches for men and women. Solomon Islands will contest the women’s gold medal match at 12.20pm. Entry is free.

DC Park continues to host touch rugby and Friday sees the continuation of the mixed competitions, ahead of Saturday’s medal matches. Entry is free.

Also at DC Parkit’s the last day of va’a so take this opportunity to watch the strong and skilledpaddlers in this truly Pacific sport. Entry is free.

Sailing will continue, wind permitting at DC Park on Thursday and races run until around 4pm. Entry is free.

Football sees the women’s gold medal match – PNG v Fiji – at the National Stadium at 7pm. Samoa and New Caledonia will contest the women’s bronze medal match at Lawson Tama at 12pm, followed by the men’s bronze medal match (Fiji v Vanuatu) at 3pm.
