Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Tahiti will contest the Sol2023 Pacific Games men’s volleyball gold medal match on Saturday after winning their semi-finals at Friendship Hall on Friday night.

PNG emerged triumphant in a hard-fought battle against New Caledonia (2-1), securing their spot in the gold medal match against Tahiti, who defeated Samoa 3-1.

Tahiti will also contest the women’s volleyball gold medal match, having beaten Fiji 3-1 in their semi. In a gripping showdown, Tahiti showcased their prowess with a masterful blend of skill and strategy.

They will face New Caledonia, who beat American Samoa 3-1 in the other women’s semi-final.

American Samoa and Fiji will contest women’s bronze at 10.30am, followed by the gold medal match at 1pm.

The men’s bronze medal match is also at 10.30am, while men’s gold will play out at 3pm.

The volleyball competition has captured the hearts of both enthusiasts and new supporters at Friendship Hall, who are eagerly anticipating the culmination of this sporting extravaganza on Saturday.
