This week’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia is set to be a truly Pacific affair, and one which Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited (PCBL) is proud to support.

The biennial meeting will see over 4,000 delegates from 56 nations from Africa, the Caribbean and Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific descend on the Samoan capital, with aims to reinforce multilateral cooperation, explore new opportunities, and tackle common challenges for the well-being of future generations.

His Majesty King Charles III, who—accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Camilla is attending CHOGM, as well as a series of engagements as part of an official State Visit.

His Majesty has attended previous CHOGMs, but this will be the first time as Head of the Commonwealth.

With leaders meeting to shape Commonwealth policies and priorities on shared goals like development, democracy and peace, trade and economy, climate change and environment, CHOGM is a significant event for the Pacific region to be hosting.

A total of 33 of the world’s 42 small states are Commonwealth members, and nine are from the Pacific.

Content Manager Tia Soakai says through PCBL’s partnership with 2AP and TV9 Samoa, the organisation is ensuring significant moments are captured and shared across key platforms.

“You can expect live coverage of major events, including the King’s arrival, the official opening ceremony, and the final press conference on October 26,” Tia says.

“For ongoing updates, live feeds, and key moments, follow Radio 2AP and TV9’s social media platforms.”

Keeping things Pacific, the MMG Communications team is providing broadcast distribution services for CHOGM and Government of Samoa.

As an Authorised Starlink Reseller, MMG were able to activate several Starlink terminals around Apia and will provide live coverage to international news networks, including the likes of BBC World and agencies such as Reuters, and of course PCBL in the Pacific, and local broadcasters in New Zealand and Australia.

A New Zealand registered broadcast and communications business, MMG Communications owns and operates internet service providers (ISP’s) in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

It is also a technology integrator and has designed and installed multiple broadcast and Telecom related sites in the Pacific.

This is the first major international event being undertaken by a Pacific Island-owned technology provider.

Visit the CHOGM website for more information about the event.
