Countries across the Pacific will receive coverage of the IPC Paralympics Rio 2016 games, as part of New Zealand’s Pacific broadcasting initiative, which delivers a wide range of television programmes from New Zealand to local free-to-air broadcasters in the Pacific.

Pasifika TV will provide live coverage of the IPC Paralympics Rio 2016 opening and closing ceremonies, as well as, daily highlights for the duration of the games, to local free-to-air broadcasters in the Pacific currently receiving its contribution feed service.

“We are pleased to bring the coverage of the IPC Paralympics Rio 2016 to the Pacific. We try our best to deliver on all the requests made for specific content, and it was nice to make this happen,” says Natasha Meleisea, General Manager, Pasifika TV.

“We are extremely grateful to our New Zealand and international content providers for their generosity in providing content at no cost to the Pacific.”

Pasifika TV currently sends up to 8 hours per day of programme content to 23 free-to-air broadcasters in the Pacific.

As part of the Pasifika TV initiative, in addition to sending New Zealand content, there will also be a training programme for local technicians, to help build technical broadcasting skills across the region.
