The Fiji Pearls have been outclassed 52-34 by Scotland in their opening match at the Netball Europe Open Championships in Cardiff.
The eighth ranked Fijians trailed 15-5 after the opening quarter, 26-14 at half-time and 41-23 heading into the final period against the 12th-ranked Thistles.
The Pearls lost two home tests against South Africa last month and will also face Wales and England over the next two days.
The Fiji Sports Commission gave the team $FJ100,000 towards their European tour, as they keep building preparations for the 2019 World Cup.
