Pasifika TV returns Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup racing to the Pacific

With a nod to our legendary Polynesian seafaring navigators, Pasifika TV in partnership with the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, is proudly bringing live America’s Cup racing to the Pacific once again.

Set off the coast of Barcelona, the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup consists of five events, taking place between August and October 2024.

Pasifika TV’s Head of Programming and Content Tui McKendrick says with sailing in our DNA, America’s Cup racing belongs in the Pacific.

“Pasifika TV is pleased to once again, secure live coverage of this most prestigious event on the 2024 yachting calendar,” says Tui.

“Emirates Team New Zealand, defenders of Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, will be looking for a clean sweep on race days and to bring the Cup back down to the Pacific.”

Dating to 1851, the America’s Cup is the pinnacle of sailing competition and the oldest active international sporting trophy.

In 2024, innovation is at the helm and the the six competing teams will be sailing AC75 monohulls, the most technological boats ever launched.

With sails as their motors and foils that lift them out of the water, the towering 75-foot-long vessels are capable of speeds over 54 knots (100 km/h) and have no brakes.

Action-packed, there will be so much for stalwarts and new fans alike to keep them glued to their screens, including the exciting and ground-breaking Alinghi – Red Bull Advanced Technologies collaboration, and the next generation of sailors battling it out in the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup, taking place from September to October 2024, in between the main event.

Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Event says innovation and technology are baked into the America’s Cup at every level, including broadcast coverage.

“So, while race teams constantly strive for more speed, our search is for new ways to make the television coverage better than before and to break new ground in all aspects wherever possible,” he says.

New graphic techniques are being debuted in Barcelona, with production in UHD, resulting in a visual treat wherever you are based in the world – and throughout the Pacific.

Match racing for the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta starts tomorrow, August 22 at 2pm local time (August 23 from 12am-2:30am NZT), and concludes on August 25 (August 26 NZT).

Pasifika TV has live racing coverage over the next four days and to ensure people do not miss the action through the night, replays and highlights will be screened daily.

Please check with your local Pacific broadcasters how and when to watch.
